The Quran and The Bible in The Light of Science - (English) - (PB)
Dr. Zakir Naik, responds to Dr. William Campbell in dispelling many misconceptions about Islam in relation to the established science and also in actuating the people with the present Bible, which is not, in fact, The Injeel, which the Muslims believe as the sacred book descended upon Jesus Christ (PBUH)
After our beloved Prophet (S.A.W.), it is his Ummah's responsibility to invite the people towards the fold of Islam. Alhamdulillah, there is no dearth of the Do Yeas who have wholeheartedly devoted themselves to the self-assigned task of disseminating the virtues of lslam with whatever modus-operandi they find better as per the situation prevailing or depending upon the need of the hour.
However, this is the period entirely different from the period of the complete ignorance or daur-e-jahiliya. Before the advent of Islam, various evils were prevalent, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, because they were completely ignorant of Islam, and 'even obstinate to accept the goodness taught and exhorted by the earlier prophets (Peace be upon them). But today, the people are more wise and educated. They study and understand many aspects of their belief yet they hesitate to accept the virtues and principles of Islam, because they have a misconception that Islam is a harsh religion, spread on the edges of sword.
Such misconceptions have carved out a niche in the hearts of the Non-Muslims, because they are either ignorant of the Islamic teachings or they are yet to be taught and convinced with authentic scriptural references, proofs and the logic required to apply for their better understanding as well as acceptance.
If the Non-Muslims are simply invited to embrace Islam only with the persuasive words, describing that the Qur'an and the Hadith say to accept this Divine religion, and so they must accept or embrace it; they would simply raise the question, what iS the logic behind it and why should they not continue to follow the faith of their forefathers?
And then, arises the need to teach them the Islamic virtues the Dos & Don'ts of Islam in a thoroughly comparative perspective. So, the best way to acquaint them with the religion of Islam is by shedding light on their own religious scriptures and their ongoing practices in comparison with the Qur'anic teachings as well as those of the Hadith.
lf a Hindu is approached with the Da'wah of lslam, he is to be taught lslam first by dispelling his misconceptions about this divine religion and simultaneously, he should also be acquainted with the sayings of their own religious scriptures, depending upon the religions they follow.
Similarly, if a da’yee wants to approach a Christian with the invitation Of Islam, he should teach him also with the relevant references of their sacred book, the Bible in comparison with the Qur'an and the Hadith as also with the required logic if the situation demands for the same. So, the need of the time is that a da’yee of Islam should be well versed not only in Islam but also with the religion, whose followers are to be preached by him.
Alhamdulillah, in the bevy of some renowned da'yees Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik, popularly known as Dr. Zakir Naik is not only the man of the distinct scholarly feats but also a global figure of repute and accomplishments in the field of lslamic Da'wah. He is the President of Islamic Research Foundation, Mumbai, India. Though a medical doctor by professional training, he is well known as a dynamic international orator in Islam as well as Comparative Religion. He clarifies Islamic viewpoints and dispels the misconceptions about Islam, based upon the Qur'an, Hadith and the other religious scriptures, besides adhering to reason, logic and scientific facts.
Dr. Zakir Naik has been proved a perfect scholar and da'yee to answers the questions showered by the carping critics of Islam in a way they want and then, they remain unable to give gruff remarks because they are explained with the relevant and authentic ` references besides the logic applicable there.
Today, there are several Non-Muslims, who want the proofs of Islamic teachings in the light of Science. If they are taught that there are many inventions and discoveries, made 1400 years ago with the advent of lslam or with the revelation of the Qur'an, they try to repudiate them, claiming that these are the contributions of the modem science and the scientists.
Considering such aspects with required priority, a debate was organised in America on behalf of the organisers of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) by conducting a dialogue session as well as a question-answer session on the topic 'The Qur'an and the Bible : In the light of Science'.
This dialogue was held in a spirit of strengthening friendship and understanding each other's viewpoints. For that day's unique dialogue the two main moderators were Dr. Mohammed Naik representing Dr. Zakir Naik, and Dr. Samuel Naaman representing Dr. William Campbell, who did his medical work in Cleveland, Ohio at Casewestem Reserve University. He worked for twenty years in Morocco, where he learnt Arabic. After 7 years in Tunisia, he wrote his book, 'Answering Dr. Maurice Bucaille'. He is a convinced Christian, who likes to explain the Injeel or the Gospel to everyone, however, the present Bible is different from the Injeel.
Before the beginning of the speakers' speeches on the selected topic, Dr. Syed Sabeel Ahmed of the ICNA greeted and welcomed all the chief guest, honorable speakers and the audience present in the hall. He assured that it was his duty to ensure a fair and proper conduct of that meeting. Therefore, he requested the speakers as well as the audience to maintain due decorum for a healthy dialogue and then the Question & Answer Session.
Thus, the dialogue session started with the tum of the speakers, Dr. William Campbell and Dr. Zakir Naik, who spoke on the particular topic selected for the debate or discussion, and made the programme not only interesting but also useful and eye-opening to all.
The particular programme consisting of dialogue and question & answer session sufficed to acquaint the Non-Muslims with the virtues of Islam, importance and utility of the Holy Qur'an and Hadith and simultaneously, they also unravelled many facts and fictions about the present Bible and the practices in vogue today among the Christians.
In a nutshell, it was Dr. Zakir Naik's rejoinder to Dr. William Campbell in dispelling many misconceptions about Islam in relation to the established science as also in acquainting the people with the present Bible, which is not, in fact, the lnjeel which the Muslims believe as the sacred book descended upon Jesus Christ (pbuh).
